Breath of Life Testimony: Phil Adams

Sincere thanks to my mentor, James Powell, for his constant encouragement and prayer. After 17 years of knowing the Christian way but finding myself in bondage to Internet porn and still smoking is disappointing, to say the least! But God's grace abounds, even to the worst of sinners. A conscious decision in my heart paved the way for God to throw open the gates to freedom! I decided one evening not to surf the porn sites, but download some Christian music, instead. This was the key. God's spirit led me to the Setting Captives Free website as I searched for Christian music. I enrolled in The Way of Purity course and did the first lesson that evening. A few weeks later, the lesson was on submitting the whole body as a living sacrifice. This is when the Holy Spirit convicted me of my 38-year smoking habit! With encouragement from my mentor, Jim, I enrolled in the Breath of Life course, knowing God wanted me to tackle this issue, as well, but not confident of success. I had tried several times previously. Within 24 hours, I received the following confirmation from the Lord, via email January 23, 2007. "Double strength. The spiritual battle around you is intensifying. Some enemies you can see, the rest are hidden but there is no need of fear. You have committed to a course of action. Therefore, your enemies have greatly increased. Some say you have spread yourself too thin with over commitments. Take counsel and search for My wisdom. If you have been unwise, repent and do better next time. My word to you is that your strength will be doubled. I will now take charge, giving daily instructions and counsel. Remember during the coming days that My hand and My eyes are upon you to will and to work My good pleasure. Be encouraged in your inner man. Nothing is too difficult for My chosen one. You will soon wear the wreath of victory. Double strength." This was the subject of a regular newsletter I receive from another ministry. God is so awesome! I was much encouraged by this, and even more so when I realized that God had broken the power of my long-standing nicotine addiction. No withdrawals, and no substitutes but Jesus! 60 days on, and still smoke-free, thanks to God's awesome grace and mercy. I know this time that I am free, indeed!
