Day 1 - Part 1
Hello Friend, and welcome back to By His Wounds. My name is Mike Cleveland, and I am the author of this 60-day course. Ruth Robertson, as mentioned in the introduction, will be walking with you through the lessons. Ruth works with people who self-harm and points them to the way to be free. She will be encouraging you through sharing powerful testimonies of those set free. Just to keep it simple for you, all writing is mine (Mike Cleveland), unless Ruth identifies herself. That way you’ll know who is talking with you at any given time in the lessons.
Each lesson consists of biblical instruction, course member comments, and testimonies. All sections will be helpful in your pursuit of victory over destructive self-harming habits.
This course is probably unlike any other course or support group you may have encountered in the past. By His Wounds places the emphasis on the need to find freedom through what Jesus Christ has done for us, and what He is able to do in us. This course also stresses the need to repent of self-punishment, self-soothing, or any other self-harming habits. The course is not as much about "coping mechanisms" or even the different types of thoughts and actions that cause us to self-harm, rather it is about learning to appreciate and enjoy what God has done for us, what He can do for us, and developing biblical discipline in the area of self-harm. The course lessons are designed to take between 30 and 50 minutes to complete each day.

I remember reading that God knows the plans He has for me; plans to prosper me, not to harm me, but to give me a ...
