Day 1 - Part 1
Today we begin our study on why everything we do, we do for the Lord. Let's look at a man from the Old Testament whose name was Gideon. We can find his story in the Book of Judges in the Old Testament. Some very bad people called the Midianites attacked Israel. God chose Gideon to rescue the Israelites. Gideon took an army to go fight the Midianites. But the Lord told Gideon that he had too many soldiers.
God said, "You have too many soldiers. I want your people to know it was Me whose power saved them." So many, many soldiers went home. Gideon only had a small number of soldiers left. But he won the battle even though there were many more Midianite soldiers than Gideon's. You see, God wanted the Israelites to know they won because God was with them. It was God's power, not theirs, that won the battle.
God wants us to know that everything we do, we should do for Him--even eat! When we eat, we should eat for the Lord. Just like in the battle by Gideon, God designed the battle to gain glory for Himself. God does everything He does for His own glory. When we do everything we do for God's glory, including eating, we are working right along with God. He will help us to eat right and to exercise when we desire these things for His own glory.
