Day 1 - Part 1

Today we begin our study on why everything we do, we do for the Lord. Let's look at a man from the Old Testament whose name was Gideon. We can find his story in the Book of Judges in the Old Testament. Some very bad people called the Midianites attacked Israel. God chose Gideon to rescue the Israelites. Gideon took an army to go fight the Midianites. But the Lord told Gideon that he had too many soldiers.

The LORD said to Gideon, "The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.'" Judges 7:2 ESV

God said, "You have too many soldiers. I want your people to know it was Me whose power saved them." So many, many soldiers went home. Gideon only had a small number of soldiers left. But he won the battle even though there were many more Midianite soldiers than Gideon's. You see, God wanted the Israelites to know they won because God was with them. When we do everything we do for God's glory, including eating, we are working right along with God. He will help us to eat right and to exercise when we desire these things for His own glory.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

That means we don't eat more than we need and even eat what our parents tell us is good for us. God created us so that we would ...
