The Lord's Table II Testimony: Amy

As I was sharing with my dad about how much God has done during this fasting time, the perfect illustration came to mind. As the saying goes, “it’s just the tip of the iceberg.” As I think about making a list of all that God has accomplished during this 20-Day Fast, I know that my list would not be complete. It would be only the “tip of the iceberg.” I know I do not fully comprehend all that God accomplished, but may I say that the list I would be able to make would be so impressive that anyone contemplating doing this fast would be convinced that this fast is truly worth the time, energy, and sacrifice.
However, in terms of my journey, I also know that as time passes- days, months, and years- I will see in a better light what God did during this fasting time. It’s like the pictures I’ve seen of icebergs where when the sunlight is just right, a greater amount of the iceberg can be seen. I know I will see more fully what God accomplished during this fast as time passes and as God shines more light on what He did.
Although, I know there is more. I also know that the fullest extent of an iceberg is seen when it is out of the water. To truly get the incredible size- depth, height, and width- of the iceberg, it must be seen out of the water. I know that I will not grasp the full extent of what God did until I leave this earth and am standing with Him in heaven. At that point I will see fully all that He accomplished during this fasting time. Right now, I am perfectly content with seeing “the tip of the iceberg” because it is truly remarkable of what God accomplished. Yet, I am also excited to see what God reveals as time passes.
Am I glad I did this fast?—absolutely! Do I recommend for someone else to do it?—If God is leading… then yes, absolutely! The blessings will be beyond anything you can think or imagine. The details of my journey (the specifics of what God did) will be different than someone else’s journey, but what God accomplished in my life is exactly what He knew I needed. I am forever changed from this fast, and I can already tell so are those who are closest to me. By the way, all that God accomplished was good, and I am so thankful to Him. I love Him even more today than I did yesterday… and I pray that I will love Him even more tomorrow. God is good, and everything that He accomplished for me during this fast was good- very good!!!
So, for those thinking about obeying God and beginning this fast (or continuing once you’ve started), I say “Go for it!” You have nothing to lose, but things you don’t want anyway- speaking about things spiritually, emotionally, and yes physically. I’ve lost over 11 pounds during this fast, but that was just an added bonus to what God accomplished in and around me. I will never be the same again, and I praise God for that. Twenty days of fasting… yes, definitely worth the sacrifice!!!
