Lord's Table Testimony: Gary
I developed poor eating habits when I was in college. I used to stuff myself whenever I could because I didn't know for sure when I would get a next FULL meal. (It was usually just a few hours later.) When I graduated from college I continued with my gluttony. I was never overweight, however, until I hit my mid- thirties when, I guess, my metabolism slowed down. I tried one diet and had moderate success; however, it left me craving foods big time. My wife and I laugh now, because by the second week of the diet cycle, I would be pulling out cookbooks, reading recipes, and drooling over them. Of course, I went back to my old eating habits, and the weight came back on, plus more, and then more.
In my early to mid-forties I realized I had a genuine problem with my eating. I was eating like a pig, and I couldn't control it. Every Monday was a new diet and usually by Wednesday I had blown it, so, of course, I would have to wait until Monday to try again.
My wife, who is my hero, introduced me to TLT and so I thought I would "check it out". After all, it was "free." It was probably not until about the 10th day that God really started dealing with me. My weight is coming off, and that’s great, but that is no longer my primary motivation. I know that Christ must be the most important thing in my life. I am learning that if I focus on the Lord then He will help me to deal with the other things in life, whether it is my weight, my family, my job, or my church.
Thank you TLT, I have been blessed by this ministry.
