New Wine Testimony: Karen

I am grateful for a chance to share my story so far with Setting The Captives Free as I was on a path of being out of control with some prescription medication my doctor reccommended. They were a tool for me to get some sleep and therefore a gift from God. It was only when I took my eyes off God and began to abuse the medication that I began to be in trouble. I started to take more than I needed and over a period of time I became dependant on them. That scared me and I began to ask God for help. During my search for help I found this website. It was the most helpful and hopeful thing I have done in my life and the course gave me answers that were relevant for all areas of my life not just my drug dependancy.
I discovered God as the one who was well able to help me out of the hole I had dug for myself. He did that through the prayers of my mentor. When I told her my story and then each day answered questions she prayed for me. I was able to answer without fear of judgement or presumtion of why I was in trouble. The advantage of emailing gave me the anominity till I was secure enough to talk with someone on a personal level.
I have learned how to pray for myself and I want to help other people discover God enabling power to help from substance addiction to dependance on the only one who can help. His name is God. I have been given a new life . The pain from my old life has been restored too.
