New Wine Testimony:

My mentor's name is Donna, and she has been encouraging me since the beginning of starting Setting Captives Free program. My testimony is as follows - I have been a Christian for a good eleven years or so but have not been living as right as I should, at least not until I have been most recently. I have always had a dislike for drinking, because I came from an alcoholic family and have spent most of my life seeing the affects of abuse from it. Some time ago, I started to drink myself. It started out in a small amount and gradually increased to every night with a minimum of three drinks. The maximum would depend if we had company or a party, though for the most part I wouldn't overdo it(according to my standards, I thought I was alright). My relationship with Jesus was very shallow for a while, I felt He was a million miles away and then one day back in November, 2004, I received a phone call from Doreen, my pastor's wife. She wanted to get together and see how I was doing, and what was going on in my life. She told me about the Setting Captives Free program, and this started my journey to be set free from what is and has been trying to destroy me and my call on my life from God. Needless to say, it has brought me to a closer relationship with the Lord. Although I did stumble with the holidays, I repented and have been alcohol-free for 84 nights again. I would not have been able to do this in my own strength, and it is only by God's grace. As I said, Doreen has been here for me and has been very supportive and encouraging me not to give up.
