Day 1 - Part 5

Next, notice what the glory of God really is. The glory of God is multi-faceted and difficult to reduce to words. I feel inadequate to even try. And yet, God has not left us in the dark as to what His glory is. Read this passage of Scripture:

"1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they." Hebrews 1:1-4

Notice that verse 3 above calls "the Son," Jesus Christ, "the brightness of His glory." This is important. When the above Scriptures direct us to focus on the glory of the Lord, what they are really saying is to see this glory in Jesus Christ, God's Son. What's the connection to our struggle? It's simple: if we desire to be transformed, we must focus on God's glory, and God's glory is wrapped up in the Person of Jesus Christ. The Way of Purity course seeks to focus our attention on Christ so that, in fixing our eyes on Him, we will become transformed into His image.
