Way of Purity Testimony: Michael

The name of my online mentor is Philip Erasmus.

Webcams, sex-chatting, sex-texting and the like had me right where the enemy wanted me. I was believing that these things could somehow fill the void in my life, they would make up for failed and failing relationships with women. The lie that they would somehow make me feel better and whole. I was drawn into this cesspool, was drowning and I didn't even know it. Separated from God, far from any chance at a meaningful relationship, my mind being perversely twisted. I was unable to have a relationship even with myself.

God made that clear to me one day when a past situation came back to bit me that put a mirror on what I was becoming and allowed me to see it for how ugly that person was. God's grace then began to open my eyes to all of the sexual sin that had entered my life and what it was doing to separate me from God and the gifts He has for my life. I experienced sadness and sorrow like I had never before.

God used so many things and people to help me in this journey until finally He led me, through my church, to the Setting Captive Free devotional which changed my life. The Lord is so gentile - I am so grateful fro His love, mercy, and grace - I am so not worthy - I am so honored and amazed at the love and kindness that The Lord shows me always and especially in His son Jesus.

The grace God imparted to me allows me to repent and not only turn away from the sin that was killing me, it also allows me to turn to Jesus and walk with Him daily. Jesus and The Holy Spirit living inside me are guiding my thoughts and actions. I pray that every day I am a good shepard of the body and mind that God's given me. I have been free from my captivity for 60 days - I pray that I continue to treat this body like a temple and keep walking with Jesus guiding my steps in purity.

I am also so thankful and grateful for all of my accountability partners who stuck by me on this journey and who I know love and support me in the next 60 days. 60 months and as long as I am here to do God's will for my life.
