Running away from home, drugs, and five times in jail marked my life, a seriously abused kid, hungry to belong and for the love of a real father. And for 58 years, I sought desperately to find someone, anyone who would give me that father love. I compromised myself in many ways in my fruitless search, only to give up and try suicide twice and I failed. It was as if God, Who had been preserving me through all of this was telling me that I had a deeper death to experience than suicide could ever offer. Then by God's grace, I was led to Setting Captives Free where I signed up for the Door of Hope course. Step by tiny step, this course and my mentor took me along the path of total honesty and healing in Jesus Christ. By his awesome love and sacrifice on the cross, I was enabled to let go completely of my old life of sin.something I had never been able to do on my own. I have a new life now, trusting in Jesus Christ, not in men. To have been brought from a place where I hated myself and wanted to die, to a place of total rejoicing in the man that God created in me is a tribute to the unspeakable grace of God demonstrated through the course and devoted staff at Setting Captives Free. He has become both my Living Water and Bread of Life from whom I joyfully feed daily.. For when the Son shall set you free, you will be free indeed!
