| Danny Herring's Testimony | |
| I am a 32-year-old pastor. There has never been a time in my life when I wasn't extremely overweight, or that I did not wrestle with my weight. I am only 5 '6" with a rather small frame, so any added weight is extremely noticeable on me. Try adding 80 to 120 extra lbs. to that small frame, and you end up with a radically unhealthy mess. That is where I had been for far too long. There have been a couple of times in my life when my weight has dropped a little, but never within 50 lbs. of where I should be, and even this was accomplished by some sort of unhealthy behavior (starvation, binging, purging, etc.) I had finally reached the point where I felt that all was hopeless. I had begun to seek insurance companies that would pay for a gastric by-pass surgery, albeit risky, dangerous, and permanently altering. But then... After years of struggling, after years of fighting, years of hopelessness, years of failure; I found hope. This hope was not in a magic pill, not a magic exercise, but it was found in the last place that I looked. You see, I am a firm believer that we, as humanity, though weak on our own, do have a source of strength beyond all comparison. As a man of faith, I should have run to this strength first. Instead, I seemed to have tripped into it (as a last resort). My life, through this course, has been forever altered. I found my strength in God. I am not speaking about some kind of Bible diet, or "You can eat what Jesus ate" diet but about looking to something beyond myself for strength to succeed. Settingcaptivesfree.com has packaged it under "The Lord’s Table" in such a powerfully-effective way. In the last 8 months, I have lost 102 lbs. It has been an amazing reformation that actually began from the inside and worked its way outward. I have never felt or looked healthier. I found strength through my faith to actually change to a lifestyle of balanced eating and, for the first time in my life, to exercise. My experience has been amazing. I give God all of the glory for accomplishing something so wonderful in my life. Danny Herring |
