Do you know who Shammua, Shaphat, Igal, Palti, Gaddiel, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi, and Geuel are? These guys had been slaves, and were set free by the power of God. They were not just anybody, but rather were leaders among their own people, well-respected, perhaps with a little education, but certainly with known leadership skills.
The Lord had told them and all their constituents that He would give them a land flowing with milk and honey, abundant in crops, the best of the Middle East. All they had to do was claim the victory and go in and possess it.
Look how lush the land was: "Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes...Then they came...and there cut down a branch with one cluster of grapes; they carried it between two of them on a pole. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs." (Numbers 13:20, 23 - NKJV throughout)
Now these ten men came to Moses and Aaron, and in the hearing of all the people of Israel, this is what they said: "We went to the land which you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover, there are giants in the land and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight" (verses 27-28, 33).
Now, do you know of a person by the name of "Joshua," or one by the name of "Caleb"? After the ten guys named in the scenario above had their fearful say, "Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, 'Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it! (verse 30). The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with mild and honey. Only DO NOT REBEL AGAINST THE LORD, nor fear the giants in the land...the Lord is with us. Do not fear them!" (Numbers 14:8-9).
What about you? Where do you stand? As you face the giants of homosexual behavior, pornography, masturbation, and sexual impurity, are you going to side with the ten? Are you going to throw in the towel and say, "There are giants in the land." I can't win! It's no use! I can’t bring down the strongholds! Freedom looks great, but the giants are too BIG for me!"
Or, are you going to be like Joshua and Caleb? They said, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it!" The Lord will give us the victory!" Is that you? Are you ready for freedom, or will you reject the Lord?
And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation murmur against him by bringing a bad report of the land, those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the Lord. But Joshua...and Caleb remained alive..." (verses 36-38).
What about you and your sin? Will you let it keep you from the freedom? Or, will you go up and kill the giant of thought strongholds?
Will you claim the promises of God this very day, or will you wallow around with the devil in the mire and muck of sin for the rest of your life?
